Beyond biological instinct, thoughts, and feelings, what truly defines the human being if not freedom\u2014an inalienable right to shape one\u2019s own future? Do not the depth and beauty of the inner world present in every human being call for the presence\u2014and recognition\u2014of another world: that of the spirit, of the spiritual soul? It is through this that one encounters the boundaries of life and goes beyond them, surpassing what is merely temporary and contingent, material and biological.
