After identifying the world of the unconscious and the drives of sexual energy in its unitive, reproductive, and gratifying tension, around the mechanism of \u201csublimation,\u201d recognized by psychoanalysis, a specific question arises for humans, and only for them: beyond sexual energy, what other vital force or energy can be present in humans, capable of elevating sexual energy and \u201csublimating\u201d it without \u201crepressing\u201d it out of contempt, fear, imposition, or alienation? What energy can elevate erotic passion if not the capacity of the spiritual soul with its love? Only a force capable of \u201ccommunion\u201d within sexuality itself can do this, such as the soul created by God, \u201cimage of God, male and female,\u201d as the Bible affirms (cf. Gen 1:27).<\/p>\n
