What will my future be like?”

In order to answer [this question] it is certainly necessary to look around. It is also necessary to look within, into the inner and spiritual dimension, where feelings and values such as freedom and free will reside.

In order to prepare for the future, all dimensions of life must be examined: that of thought and culture, that which concerns the physical dimension, the emotional dimension and the spiritual dimension. It is then necessary to observe life’s complete scope: the personal and the social, which concerns the common good, the greater good.

Not least, we need to search for the meaning of life, both in its historical and eternal sense.

Said search leads each person to ask themselves “Who am I?”

After all, we all need to ask ourselves: “Who are we? How do we operate?”

What type of future awaits us depends on this fundamental human question: Whose children are we?[2^ slide]. Why are we on this earth!

In order to make history and to be integrated into social life, being prepared, smart, well-equipped professionally won’t be enough. One must also be a capable and mature human being.

This is what development of the inner world is for: fleeting and invisible, yet essential and not appreciated enough in our society.

Today the human predicament is urgent and must be taken seriously and done so in time, so that the new frontiers of Artificial Intelligence and power do not replace the human being by supplanting him/her.

In practice, respect and preservation of creation and nature unfortunately are not always identified with respect and the greater good of the human dimension.

Therefore, not only the earth is in danger, but also the human dimension itself, as in “being human”.

Dr. Jérome Lejeune, a physician and pioneer of modern genetics who discovered Down syndrome (Trisomy 21), said:

“We must rebuild our intelligence because a distorted reason makes man insensitive to the appeals of the heart.”

Indeed, technological development and material and economic well-being alone do not guarantee values such as freedom, truth, love, human solidarity, honesty and justice.

Values cannot rest on financial and partisan budgets and interests.

Human life with its values needs to find its foundation in the deepest reality of every human being, that is, in the reality of the spiritual soul, the human spirit. This is where goodness, freedom, our conscience and the greatest dignity of each person resides. This spiritual dimension is the field of my interdisciplinary and international scientific research studies with the IRIS-3 Foundation [3^ slide].

The popular lyricist and author of highly successful songs and lyrics Mogol said in an interview a few years ago: “Without God we are in the middle of nowhere.” And I would say that “without the spiritual soul, we are outside our center of gravity, we are destitute.”

Moreover, today we are all facing a new socio-historical dynamism.

The past drifts away faster and faster and its wisdom, especially, finds it difficult to reach the new generations. [On the other hand] the future is always uncertain and unstable due to its fluctuating dynamics, which are certainly exciting, but also not always reassuring.

In this race that reminds us so much of the exciting sport of surfing waves crests, so many young people often base their search for the future on seizing beautiful opportunities that give satisfaction.

The speed of change, the new applications of cybernetics and Artificial Intelligence, together with the constantly evolving and imponderable social world order, pose new opportunities but also uncertainties in many fields, including that of the job market, which now follows the new formula, the new trend.

In fact, the job market increasingly follows the fast-moving development of the world and not vice versa, as it once did, when it was the world that followed the development of the job market.

This is where professional preparation and one’s personal abilities must interact with society and institutions, which must take the future of human life to heart. [1^ slide].

Too often the family and the professional world walk separately, when they should interact positively for the sake of life and of the human being.

Different institutions can, and must, make a great contribution.

Among these, the family plays a key role because it stands as a personal and social element of stability, and as a valuable link of continuity between generations.

The family is precisely the place where life is born, and where we first experience values and all that is properly human:

Values such as love for life, for truth, for freedom, the love of Good and peace, the value of a faith that opens new horizons, and in particular, faith in Jesus Christ, true God and true man, who brought agape love to earth.

And then, human social values such as respect, justice, hospitality, solidarity, one’s roots, democratic participation and creative engagement for the good of each and all:

All these values together are capable of giving meaning to human life.

They mature and develop along with life starting from the family.

It is here, from the sincere love of a couple and a family, that these values are learned in the gratuitousness and perseverance that build a human person. It is about the precious gift of life and the many daily gifts that the love and smile of a family can give.

Its emotional stability and ties make the family one of the most important realities in one’s life.

Family must be sought, built, loved and protected. It is a unique and irreplaceable individual and social good. Family is a precious possession!

I am also working on special vocations, specifically for the formation of much-needed “Priests for the Family.”

Upon close observation one can see how the ability to give life and the drive for one’s future exist within each young person. We find the strength and hope of love for a beautiful life even [in cases] when the family experience has been lacking or has even been detrimental, as unfortunately it is in some dramatic cases. But these “fumes” of selfishness, those of violence, perversion and death, to which we must never become accustomed, all the bad examples do not take away from every young person’s heart the gift and beauty of life, and his or her dreams and hopes of living a life worthwhile. They do not stifle the pursuit of goodness and happiness to which everyone can aspire.

Dear young people, this is the strength you have in your lives and in your hearts, hope and joy which are able to overcome sadness and boredom.

Courageously invest your energies in building families and a more humane society. The business world will also benefit [from this]!

In fact, we all need to try to be better than those who came before us:

This is true human progress, made up of self-improvement and virtue. The greatest adventure is self-improvement, rather than the things that pass away!

In my experience with so many young couples who attend our Center, I have seen how necessary it is to care for human wounds and restore strength and courage to the human dimension.

We recall the precious words of Edith Stein:

“Do not accept anything as truth that is devoid of love. And accept nothing as love that is devoid of truth. One without the other becomes a destructive lie.”

You young people for us adults are a presence and good hope for the future!

Today May 13th on our calendar is the feast of Mary, which for many Christians and non-Christians alike is a source of joy and hope.

Dear young people, do not feel alone in your plans:

both civil and religious institutions want to be close to the new generations, to you women and men of the future!

[72

post-5816","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-conference-may-2024
["GET
