I am here as President of the Famiglia Piccola Chiesa (Small Church Family Association), part of the Movement of Family Love. I have been married for 17 years, and together with my wife, we are also missionary catechists for families. We have three daughters aged 15, 14, and 5.

Our association is constantly committed to the evangelization of young families and couples. We operate within the pastoral care for families in the dioceses of Rome, but not only there—we also have experiences in the dioceses of Milan and L’Aquila, as well as abroad, in Portugal. Since 2003, we have been officially recognized as a Catholic lay association through a diocesan decree by the then Vicar Cardinal Camillo Ruini. We offer marriage preparation courses and, for those who wish to deepen their faith, we provide a longer, structured spiritual journey made up of several stages over the years. Many families, at the end of this journey, choose to stay and continue, becoming missionary catechists for families—just as we did. In the association’s statute, i’ll share a short excerpt: “The broader aim of the association is the re-evangelization of human love through the promotion of the Christian family model and its role in society.”

Our specific purpose is the integral growth of the person for the authentic development of the couple and the family. For this reason, within the movement we propose a structured journey in gradual stages, through an innovative method inspired by Don Stefano several years ago. It focuses first on the “I”, then the “You”, and finally the “We”. This journey supports both the individual and the couple in their human and spiritual growth. In short, we have taken upon ourselves the commitment to spread the rediscovery of a true and profound faith that restores dignity, strength, and beauty to life—just as the Lord envisioned and willed for us.

Our mission is to help rebuild the wounded human being, where society, dominant cultural ideologies, life’s hardships, and sometimes oppressive work have left wounds and fragilities. We see it often: fear of not knowing how to love, fear of becoming parents, personal insecurities, the fragmentation of the individual and of the family, or indifference toward sin and eternal life, and faith in general—whose roots are surely connected to the issues previously outlined by earlier speakers. The association carries out a missionary activity, offering men and women today the message of life and love brought by Christ and the Church.

We actively participate in many social contexts. We constantly see how people, through the spiritual and human path we propose, mature and become bearers and witnesses of the goodness they have received—in every area of their life: social, family, work, friendships—360 degrees. With the Lord’s help, we aim every day to bear witness that the civilization of love and life, passed down to us by Saint John Paul II in his encyclical Evangelium Vitae, is possible. It is good and fruitful for the social fabric we live in, restoring the order with which God created man and woman. For this, we offer help and support in many ways, especially to couples who are in difficulty or crisis. Over the years, we’ve organized many public vigils, such as the Vigil for Peace—both peace within hearts and peace among nations. We’ve also held vigils for the Pope and his pontificate, vigils for vocations, and events to raise awareness among both member and non-member families, encouraging openness toward others and building sensitivity toward faith and vocation.

We, the missionaries of the Movement of Family Love, supported by a full spiritual life, constantly open ourselves to acts of solidarity and volunteering. We have a rotating community that, every month, brings food and human warmth to the homeless. In particular, on December 31st, we try to bring the joy of New Year’s Eve to those without shelter. We have supported a children’s home for many years. Many of us catechists also founded a nonprofit organization, Santa Maria Madre della Provvidenza. Through tax donations (5×1000), we regularly help struggling families, providing for their basic needs—like help paying bills—as well as more critical needs like medical care. We’ve helped families affected by earthquakes in Amatrice, L’Aquila, and abroad—such as flood victims in Haiti. We participate in numerous conferences and public events, such as the Demonstration for life, and various sit-ins in defense of life and birth rates.

We also circulate petitions defending life and opposing the use of schools as platforms for misleading ideologies. We attend training courses to stay up to date, especially on critical topics like bullying, social media addiction, and substance abuse. To conclude, what we live every day is this: an authentic, embodied faith leads us Christians to live in society with greater awareness, which in turn pushes us to be more engaged. We feel constantly called to mutual collaboration and active commitment.

With the Lord’s help, we want to give more and more, to do more of His will, and in our small way, contribute to building His Kingdom.

Thank you very much.

Good evening everyone, I greet you all with heartfelt gratitude.
